The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has received revenue proposals for the 2015 to 2020 regulatory control period from Energex and Ergon Energy in Queensland and SA Power Networks in South Australia. The AER will assess these proposals to set network prices that contribute to consumer electricity bills in both of those states for the next five years.
The distributors’ revenue proposals set out their expected expenditure and financing requirements for the next 5 years. The proposals will have a significant influence on electricity prices as network costs make up around half the cost of providing electricity services to residential consumers.
Over the next 12 months, the AER will review each of the proposals. Our role is to determine whether the proposals encourage efficient investment in the networks that is in the long term interests of consumers. These proposals are available on the AER website (www.aer.gov.au).
Invitation for submissions
We strongly encourage consumers and other interested parties to make submissions on the proposals. Submissions are due by close of business 30 January 2015. We expect to publish our preliminary determination in April 2015. A final determination will be made in October 2015.

We are holding public forums on these revenue proposals on 9 December 2014 for Energex and Ergon Energy in Brisbane and 10 December 2014 for SA Power Networks in Adelaide.
