On 12 September 2014 the AER approved applications by Powercor and AusNet Services for increased costs arising from a Direction from Energy Safe Victoria to underground powerlines in high bushfire risk areas. The costs of undergrounding have been substantially met through grants from the Victorian Government Powerline Replacement Fund. The additional costs relate to costs that the network businesses will have to meet and which could not be funded by the Victorian Government fund. The approved amounts are AusNet Services $5.72 m ($2015) and Powercor $8.78 m ($2015).
