On 15 July 2014, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) accepted an application from Pietermaritzburg Pty Ltd (trading as Design Ecology) for an individual electricity exemption from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law.
Submissions on the Pietermaritzburg's application closed Friday 15 August 2014. No submissions were made.
On 2 September 2014, the AER granted an individual exemption to Pietermaritzburg for electricity.
