The AER today released a Notice of draft instrument and proposed draft amendments to the AER Compliance procedures and guidelines. The guidelines establish an exception reporting framework that applies to all retailers and distributors in jurisdictions that have adopted the Retail Law. The proposed amendments seek to refine the reporting framework and to improve the quality of reports submitted by regulated entities.
Invitation for submissions
Interested parties are invited to make written submissions to the AER regarding the proposed amendments to the guidelines by close of business 14 July 2014.
Submissions should be sent electronically “Attention: Ms Jacqui Thorpe, Acting General Manager, Retail Markets Branch to AERInquiryaer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) with the title ‘Draft amendments to AER Compliance procedures and guidelines’.

The AER prefers that all submissions be sent in an electronic format in Microsoft Word or other text readable document form and publicly available, to facilitate an informed, transparent and robust consultation process. Submissions will therefore be treated as public documents unless otherwise requested, and will be placed on the AER’s website. Parties wishing to submit confidential information are asked to:
- Clearly identify the information that is subject of the confidentiality claim; and
- Provide a non-confidential version of the submission for publication.
