On 11 May 2012 the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) received applications for electricity and gas retailer authorisation from Metered Energy Holdings Pty Ltd (MEH).
MEH is a private company, with a sole shareholder. MEH operates as an energy on-seller, providing electricity, gas and other services in embedded networks. MEH's current operations are limited to Queensland, although it was granted retail and gas licences by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales in 2011. MEH is seeking retailer authorisation to retail electricity and gas residential customers in major cities across the NEM.
The AER invites submissions on the application by Friday 8 June 2012. Submissions should be made in relation to the applicant's ability to meet the entry criteria, as prescribed by section 90 of the Retail Law, and set out in the AER's Retailer Authorisation Guideline.
Submissions should be emailed "Att: Sarah Proudfoot, General Manager Retail Markets Branch" at AERInquiryaer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) with the following title in the email:
