The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) today released its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) draft determination, in relation to CitiPower, Jemena, Powercor, SP AusNet and United Energy Distribution's AMI budgets and charges for 20012–15, for consideration and comment by interested parties.

The draft determination establishes the basis for the metering charges payable by Victorian consumers using less than 160MWh of electricity per annum over the period 2012 to 2015.

In its draft decision, the AER considers the Victorian DNSPs have not substantiated their proposed total budget for this period of $1.24 billion and considers a total budget of around $760 million meets the relevant tests set out in the Victorian Order in Council that applies to the assessment of this program.

The DNSPs’ budgets and charges applications, the AER’s draft determination and consultant’s report are available on the AER's website.

Submissions on the draft determination may be sent electronically to AERInquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au)   by close of business 9 September 2011. Alternatively, submissions can be mailed to:
