On 4 April 2011 the AER released its draft determination on SP AusNet’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Revised Budget Application (Application) for 2009-11. The Application proposes variations to the costs previously approved by the AER in October 2009 for costs associated with the AMI program, including, but not limited to, the supply and installation of advanced interval meters (smart meters).
The AER is required to make a draft determination regarding SP AusNet’s Application, and allow it 10 business days to respond. SP AusNet has until 18 April 2011 to respond to the AER’s draft determination. Following this, the AER must make a final determination on SP AusNet’s Application by 29 April 2011.
The AER’s draft determination rejects several aspects of SP AusNet’s Application. Instead, The AER has determined the variations to the SP AusNet's previously Approved Budget that it would approve, which is provided in the draft determination.
The AER welcomes submissions to this draft determination, which are due by COB 18 April 2011. Submissions can be sent electronically to aerinquiryaer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au).
Alternatively, submissions can be sent to:
