The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) is hosting a lunch time forum on its monitoring and reporting of the Victorian wholesale gas market. This forum is targeted at industry participants, advisors and stakeholders.
At this forum the AER will provide an overview of its approach to monitoring and reporting and also seek specific feedback on two important aspects of it monitoring framework - gas weekly reports and significant price gas day reports.
Since 1 July 2009, in accordance with monitoring functions under the National Gas Rules, the AER has produced a gas weekly report which includes analysis of the Victorian wholesale gas market. The gas weekly report can be found on the AER's website.
The AER also has a specific requirement under the National Gas Rules to develop and publish significant price variation guidelines and to report on significant price gas days. The AER will circulate shortly a price event reporting trigger options paper for discussion at the forum. The AER intends to release a significant price variation guideline in time for winter 2010 (incorporating final triggers) following the forum.
The presenters at the forum will be Tom Leuner (General Manager, Markets Branch), Mark Wilson (Director, Markets Branch) and Jeremy Llewellyn (Assistant Director, Markets Branch).
The forum will take place between noon and 2 p.m. on 13 May 2010 at the AER's offices on Level 35 (Reception), The Tower, 360 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne Central.
Lunch will be provided
