The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has made its draft determinations on the regulatory proposals submitted by Energex and Ergon Energy, the Queensland electricity distributors. The determinations cover the period 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2015 and set the revenue that the Queensland distributors are able to recover for the provision of electricity distribution services.

Energex and Ergon Energy have until 14 January 2010 to submit a revised regulatory proposal to the AER. Relevant information including the draft determinations, regulatory proposals and reports prepared by the AER’s consultants are available on the AER's website.

Pre-determination conferences

The AER will host a pre-determination conference in Brisbane on its draft decision on Tuesday 8 December 2009. The conference will provide an opportunity for the AER to outline its draft determinations and to receive oral submissions from interested parties.

Submissions

Interested parties are invited to provide written submissions on the AER’s draft determinations and the Queensland electricity distributor’s revised regulatory proposals by 16 February 2010.

The AER may, but need not, consider a submission it receives after the consultation period has ended.

The AER prefers that all submissions be publicly available to facilitate an informed and transparent consultative process. Submissions will be treated as public documents unless otherwise requested. Parties wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:

  • clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim provide a non-confidential version of the submission.
  • All non-confidential submissions will be placed on the AER's website.

The AER will deal with all information it receives in the draft decision process, including submissions on the draft decisions, in accordance with the ACCC/AER information policy. The policy is available at the AER website.
