The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has released its draft decision on Transend's electricity transmission determination for the regulatory control period 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2014. The draft decision and reports prepared by the AER's consultants are now available on the AER's website.

The AER has scheduled a pre-determination conference on the draft decision in Hobart on Wednesday 10 December 2008, at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, 1 Davey St, Hobart.

The purpose of the pre-determination conference is to explain the draft decision and to receive oral submissions from interested parties. Interested parties can register to attend the pre-determination conference by contacting Kirsty Weeks on (03) 9290 1436 or by emailing AERinquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERinquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) by Friday 5 December 2008.

Submissions in response to the draft decision need to be sent to the AER by Wednesday 18 February 2009 to:

The AER prefers that all submissions be publicly available to facilitate an informed and transparent consultative process. Submissions will be treated as public documents unless otherwise requested. Parties wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:

  • clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim; and
  • provide a non-confidential version of the submission.

All non-confidential submissions will be placed on the AER's website. The AER will deal with all information it receives in the transmission determination process, including submissions on the draft decision, in accordance with the ACCC/AER information policy. The policy is available at the AER's website.

A copy of Transend's revenue proposal, proposed negotiating framework, proposed pricing methodology and submissions from interested parties are available on the AER's website.
