The Amadeus Basin to Darwin Pipeline (ABDP) access arrangement contains a 'review trigger mechanism' under section 3.18 of the gas code. The trigger mechanism allows the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to review the ABDP access arrangement if interconnection with another pipeline has occurred, or if gas from a significant new source is transported along the ABDP, which substantially changes the types of services sought by users or changes the directional flow of gas.
The ACCC recently sought submissions from interested parties on whether an event has occurred that may trigger a review of the ABDP access arrangement. Three submissions were received. The ACCC has completed its investigation and has concluded that no event has occurred that would justify a review of the ABDP access arrangement at this stage.
