Gas pipeline service providers

Gas pipeline service providers must publish information to help shippers make an informed decision about whether to seek access to a pipeline service, and to assess the reasonableness of an offer made by the service provider.

A service provider must prepare, maintain and publish:

  • service and access information
  • standing terms
  • financial information
  • actual prices payable.

Information must be provided in accordance with the access information standard and timetable set out in the National Gas Rules.

Compression and storage facility service providers

Gas compression and storage service providers must publish information to help service users make an informed decision about whether to seek access to a compression and storage service, and to assess the reasonableness of an offer made by the service provider.

A service provider must prepare, maintain and publish:

  • standing terms
  • actual prices payable.

Information must be provided in accordance with the access information standard and timetable set out in the National Gas Rules.

Disclosure guidelines and price reporting guidelines

The AER must publish and maintain pipeline information disclosure guidelines under Part 10 of the National Gas Rules. These guidelines give guidance and instruction to gas pipeline service providers about what information they must publish, and how the information must be published on their website.

The AER must also publish and maintain price reporting guidelines under Part 18A and may do so with the pipeline information disclosure guidelines published by the AER under Part 10.

Part 10 exemptions

Under the National Gas Rules (NGR), there are two categories of exemptions from publishing information under the information disclosure framework. A gas pipeline service provider may apply to the AER for an exemption where the pipeline satisfies the relevant exemption criteria.
