On 6 May 2020, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved an electricity retailer authorisation application from SmartestEnergy Australia Pty Ltd (SmartestEnergy) under the National Energy Retail Law (Retail Law).
Background
On 3 February 2020, the AER accepted an application from SmartestEnergy for an electricity retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law (Retail Law). SmartestEnergy is now authorised to retail electricity as and when the Retail Law is adopted in each participating jurisdiction.
The AER sought submissions from interested stakeholders. Consultation on the application closed on Tuesday 3 March 2020. No submissions were received.
