In October 2020, the AER commenced a transparancy review of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) 2021 Inputs, Assumptions and Scenarios Report (IASR) development process, as part of the overall development of its Integrated System Plan.
Our transparency review assesses the adequacy of AEMO’s explanations of the derivation of key inputs and assumptions and our final report was required one month after AEMO published its IASR on 30 July 2021. Our review it is not intended to assess the merits of AEMO decisions, rather our role is to focus on the adequacy of AEMO’s explanations of its inputs, assumptions.
The report identifies some issues that require AEMO to provide further explanation in an addendum to their IASR, and to consult on these issues through the draft ISP.
