The AER monitors the operation and performance of the National Electricity Market, conducts special investigations in response to market outcomes and/or specific events and engages with market participants to facilitate an ongoing compliance management focus.
The AER compliance monitoring programme includes targeting a number of specific National Electricity Market Rule provisions each year. These provisions can relate to areas in the Rules where compliance concerns have been identified or where changes to the Rules have been introduced. The AER will target 24 separate provisions each year for review and assess compliance with the targeted provision.
The AER has published a report summarising the results of its compliance monitoring activities during the period October – December 2005.
