The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking expressions of interest for membership of its Customer Consultative Group (CCG).

The role of the CCG is to provide advice to the AER in relation to our functions under energy laws that affect consumers. The AER is required to maintain the CCG under the National Energy Retail Rules.

CCG membership will provide organisations with the opportunity to inform the AER about issues that impact on the groups they represent. It will also provide a forum in which organisations can discuss key energy issues with other consumer representatives. Individuals with an interest in, and knowledge of, Australian energy consumer issues are also invited to apply.

Meetings are usually held three times a year in Melbourne, and the first meeting for the newly appointed members is scheduled for July 2014.

The AER aims to achieve a balance and variety of interests and perspectives among the membership. The AER encourages national and state based consumer representatives to apply, and also welcomes applications from individuals or organisations that represent general consumers as well as those that represent particular groups of consumers, such as (but not limited to): rural and regional, financially disadvantaged, Indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse consumers, or small to medium sized businesses.

Applications addressing the selection criteria must be received by 5:00pm AEST on Friday, 28 February 2014.

For more information on the application process, please refer to the selection criteria.

How to apply

Applications can be emailed to AERinquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERinquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au). All applications received will be acknowledged by return email.

The AER’s preference is for applications to be submitted by email. However, applications by post will also be accepted and can be sent to:
