On 15 May 2013 the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) received an application for an electricity retailer authorisation from WINenergy Pty Ltd (WINenergy).

WINenergy is a private company limited by shares who operates as an agent for organisations selling electricity within embedded networks. WINenergy proposes to retail electricity to large customers, including buildings in which WINenergy operates an embedded network. WINenergy was granted a retail electricity licence by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales in 2011.

Invitation for submissions

The AER invites submissions on the application by Thursday 13 June 2013. Submissions should be made in relation to the applicant's ability to meet the entry criteria, as prescribed by section 90 of the Retail Law, and set out in the AER's Retailer Authorisation Guideline.

Submissions should be emailed "Att: Sarah Proudfoot, General Manager Retail Markets Branch" at AERInquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) with the following title in the email: Submission on WINenergy Pty Ltd application for electricity retailer authorisation.

We prefer that all submissions be sent in an electronic format in Microsoft Word or other text-readable document form and publicly available, to facilitate an informed, transparent and robust consultation process. Accordingly, we will treat submissions as public documents and post these on our website, except and unless prior arrangements are made with us to treat the submission, or portions of it, as confidential. Parties wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:

  • clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim; and
  • provide a non-confidential version of the submission
