The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has today released its rate of return annual update for 2020.
The AER determined the regulated rate of return using the 2018 Rate of Return Instrument. The Rate of Return Instrument used timely market data in its application. The annual update published today shows changes in market data since the publication of the 2018 instrument.
The annual update is one element of the AER’s pathway to the 2022 Rate of Return Instrument.
Relative to the 2019 annual update, the update published today includes new methods of analysis arising from the final working paper on energy network debt data.
The intent of the update is to provide a foundation for substantive discussion with all stakeholders during the active phase of the 2022 Rate of Return Instrument review.
