The AER today published its approval of network tariff variation notices for gas transmission pipelines in Queensland (Roma Brisbane Pipeline) and the Northern Territory (Amadeus Pipeline).
The AER’s role is to assess each pipeline’s proposed changes in reference tariffs for compliance with the price controls set out in that pipeline’s access arrangement. The AER has found each pipeline’s proposed reference tariffs for 1 July 2018 to be compliant with their respective access arrangements. These result in small reductions to gas reference tariffs for these pipelines.
Gas transportation prices for transmission pipelines are typically set by way of bi-lateral contracts between the pipeline and parties seeking to secure capacity on that pipeline. Changes in gas transmission references tariffs will therefore not necessarily have an immediate or direct impact on gas transportation prices in many instances.
