On 2 August 2013, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) received an application for an electricity retailer authorisation from People Energy Pty Ltd (People Energy).
People Energy is a private company limited by shares which retails electricity in Victoria. In November 2012, People Energy was granted an electricity retail licence by the Essential Services Commission of Victoria. People Energy is now seeking a national electricity retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law.
Invitation for submissions
The AER invites submissions on the application by Tuesday 10 September 2013. Submissions should be made in relation to the applicant's ability to meet the entry criteria, as prescribed by section 90 of the Retail Law, and set out in the AER's Retailer Authorisation Guideline.
Submissions should be emailed "Att: Jacqui Thorpe, Acting General Manager Retail Markets Branch" at AERInquiryaer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) with the following title in the email: Submission on People Energy Pty Ltd application for electricity retailer authorisation.
We prefer that all submissions be sent in an electronic format in Microsoft Word or other text-readable document form and publicly available, to facilitate an informed, transparent and robust consultation process. Accordingly, we will treat submissions as public documents and post these on our website, except and unless prior arrangements are made with us to treat the submission, or portions of it, as confidential. Parties wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:
- clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim; and
- provide a non-confidential version of the submission
