On 1 March 2013, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved an application from Infigen Energy Holdings Pty Ltd (‘IEH’) for electricity retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law. IEH is authorised to retail electricity as and when the National Energy Retail Law is adopted in each participating jurisdiction.
IEH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Infigen Energy Limited (Infigen), which is a specialist renewable energy business that develops, builds, owns and operates wind and solar farms across Australia. Infigen intends to expand its business through IEH, and retail electricity to large customers only.
The AER sought public submissions on IEH’s application for a retailer authorisation. Consultation on the application closed on 8 February 2013. No submissions were received.
