The AER has published an issues paper for its review of the AER exemptions framework for embedded networks seeking stakeholder input.

The issues paper seeks stakeholder feedback on the following issues:

  • The harms, or risk of harms, residential embedded network customers may be facing.
  • The benefits of residential embedded networks, and the extent to which customers are receiving them.
  • Whether action is needed, which could include strengthening regulatory oversight of embedded networks, enhancing reporting arrangements and consumer protections, and restricting the growth of future residential embedded networks.

The AER will hold an online information session so that interested stakeholders can learn more about the key issues and ask questions. The session will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, 13 December 2023, registration is now open.

Consultation on the issues paper closes at 4 pm Monday, 5 February 2024.
