Following on from the issues paper for the 2024–25 DMO period, published on 4 October 2023, the AER has released the Net System Load Profile (NSLP) consultation paper to assist them in their current work setting the upcoming Default Market Offer (DMO) 6 draft determination (the draft determination).
The NSLP is a key input into forecasting annual wholesale costs in the DMO. In setting the DMO, the AER aims to use the available load profile data that is reflective of costs to retailers to purchase energy for their residential and small business customers, across the coming financial year. Since the consultation process held for the DMO 6 issues paper, the AER has identified impacts on the SAPN and Energex NSLP datasets and is now seeking stakeholder feedback on alternative options to produce the load profiles based on NSLP data for DMO 6
The DMO draft determination will be released in early March 2024 for full consultation, with the final determination published in May 2024 to come into effect on 1 July 2024.
Interested parties are invited to make submissions in response to the NSLP consultation paper by 20 February 2024. The short consultation time frame is needed to ensure the AER is able to consider stakeholder submissions before making the DMO 6 draft determination.
