On 2 July 2019, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) accepted an application from Cowell Electric Supply Pty Ltd for an individual exemption from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law to sell energy at Iron Knob and Pimba.
The AER also accepted an application from Cowell Electric Supply Pty Ltd for an exemption from the requirement to register as a network service provider and the operation of Chapter 5 of the National Electricity Rules.
Invitation for submissions
We are now seeking submissions from interested stakeholders on Cowell Electric Supply Pty Ltd's applications by Wednesday, 31 July 2019. Submissions should be emailed "Attention: Sarah Proudfoot, General Manager, Consumers and Markets Branch" at AERExemptionsaer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERExemptions[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) with the following title in the email: Cowell Electric Supply Pty Ltd - application for an retail and network individual exemption.

We will take into account submissions in deciding whether or not to grant Cowell Electric Supply Pty Ltd's application.
The AER prefers that all submissions be sent in an electronic format in Microsoft Word or other text readable document form and publicly available, to facilitate an informed, transparent and robust consultation process. Accordingly, submissions will be treated as public documents and posted on the AER's website, unless prior arrangements are made with the AER to treat the submission, or portions of it, as confidential. Those wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:
- clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim; and
- provide a non-confidential version of the submission.
