In March 2005, the ACCC approved Transend Networks’ application to pass-through the costs associated with network support services to address constraints in Southern Tasmania on the Liapootah-Chapel Street 220kV transmission lines to customers. Under Transend Networks’ arrangement the support services are provided by Hydro Tasmania and sourced from Gordon Power Station.

On 7 August 2006, Transend Networks advised that it is now seeking amendment to the Network Support Arrangement from 9 October 2006 to 15 October 2006 to source support from an alternative power station, as Gordon Power Station will be out of service from 9 October 2006. In relation to the costs associated with the provision of network support services Transend Networks has advised that it does not expect that the amount of pass-through to customers, as previously approved, will change. Before it makes a decision regarding Transend Networks application, the AER considers it prudent to consult with interested parties.

The AER is now calling for interested parties to make written submissions regarding Transend Networks’ application. Submissions close 25 August 2006.

Any submissions received will be placed on the AER internet site and should be provided in electronic form, either as a Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat file. If you would like to make a submission please email: AERInquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) or send to GPO Box 520, Melbourne VIC 3001.
