On 21 August 2015 we received a cost pass through application from Ausgrid in respect of a storm event in April this year, which allegedly damaged their network. The restoration effort undertaken by Ausgrid in response to the storms they believe has had a material impact on their costs of providing direct control services. Those costs amount to approximately $40 million. The AER will now assess this application and invite submission from interested parties by COB Wednesday 30 September 2015.

Invitation for submissions

We are now seeking submissions from interested stakeholders on Ausgrid's pass through application by COB 30 September 2015. Submissions should be emailed “Attention: Craig Madden, Director, Networks” at AERInquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au).

Alternatively, written submissions can also be sent to:

Mr Craig Madden

We will take into account submissions in deciding whether or not to grant Ausgrid's application.

The AER prefers that all submissions be sent in an electronic format in Microsoft Word or other text readable document form and publicly available, to facilitate an informed, transparent and robust consultation process. Accordingly, submissions will be treated as public documents and posted on the AER's website, unless prior arrangements are made with the AER to treat the submission, or portions of it, as confidential. Those wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:

  • clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim; and
  • provide a non-confidential version of the submission.
