The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) today released the final confidentiality guideline as part of the Better Regulation reform program. Accompanying this guideline we have also published an explanatory statement and a factsheet.
Our confidentiality guideline sets out how energy network businesses must make confidentiality claims over information they submit to us. This guideline balances protecting genuinely confidential information with ensuring that stakeholders can access sufficient information on issues affecting their interests.
This is the second finalised guideline we have published as part of our Better Regulation reform program. We are developing an integrated package of measures so that consumers pay no more than necessary for a safe and reliable energy supply. More information is on our Better Regulation webpage.
