The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has published determinations on two elements of the Waratah Super Battery project:

  1. Paired generation services (contestable)
  2. SIPS control system and Network augmentations (non-contestable)

Alongside these, the AER has also published an overview of the Waratah Super Battery project which includes the total revenue requirement for all components. In total, our determinations finds that Transgrid will recover $705.2 million ($ nominal) over the 5 year period from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2029. This combines the outcomes from today’s decisions with our earlier decision on another component, the SIPS battery service (contestable).

We redacted some information from the public versions of our earlier decision documents to protect confidentiality. The publication of the total revenue requirement allows energy consumers to understand the full scope of the project, without disclosing the commercially sensitive information relating to specific components within the Waratah Super Battery project.
