The AER has received proposals from the five Victorian electricity distributors to apply AMI transition charges in 2017. A transition charge, if approved, is a 'true up' mechanism that corrects for the difference between approved AMI costs over the 2009–15 period and actual revenues from metering charges.

Invitation for submissions

We are seeking submissions from interested parties in relation to the application to apply transition charges. Submissions on the application should be emailed to AERInquiryataer [dot] gov [dot] au (AERInquiry[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au) before close of business on 19 July 2016.

Submissions should be emailed “Attention: Chris Pattas, General Manager, Network Investment and Pricing Branch” with the following title in the email: AMI transition charges application.

The AER prefers that all submissions be sent in an electronic format in Microsoft Word or other text readable document form and publicly available, to facilitate an informed, transparent and robust consultation process. Accordingly, submissions will be treated as public documents and posted on the AER's website, unless prior arrangements are made with the AER to treat the submission, or portions of it, as confidential. Those wishing to submit confidential information are requested to:

  • clearly identify the information that is the subject of the confidentiality claim; and
  • provide a non-confidential version of the submission.
