The AER has released its final decisions on the revenue South Australian electricity transmission network provider ElectraNet, and transmission interconnector Murraylink, can recover from their customers in the period 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2028.

Our decision allows ElectraNet to recover total revenue of $2,214.9 million from its consumers over the next 5 years.

The revenue ElectraNet will recover through transmission tariffs makes up around 11% of a typical bill for residential and small business customers. We estimate that by 2027–28 this final decision will increase the average annual electricity bill by $31 (1.7%) for residential customers and $76 (1.7%) for small business customers in South Australia.

These impacts include revenue of $90.9 million approved in the AER’s final decision for the Murraylink electricity transmission interconnector, which is recovered through ElectraNet’s transmission charges in South Australia, and AEMO’s transmission charges in Victoria. Charges are allocated according to the value of Murraylink’s assets in each state and we estimate these contribute less than 2% to energy bills.
