On 14 February 2012, Multinet applied to the Australian Energy Regulator for a change in taxes event pass through in relation to the introduction of the carbon pricing mechanism under the Clean Energy Legislative Package. The pass through costs relate to charges for fugitive gas emissions from the Multinet gas distribution network in Victoria in the period from 1 July 2012 to 31 December 2012, and associated administrative costs.
The AER has released its decision on Multinet’s pass through application. The AER’s decision is to approve a pass through amount of $3.9 million, to be recovered through consumption based charges added to each of Multinet’s reference tariffs.
