The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) will release its draft rate of return guideline and explanatory statement for consultation on the morning of 30 August 2013. This guideline will set out the approach we intend to take to determine the allowed rate of return for both electricity and gas service providers. This is the final draft guideline we are publishing as part of our Better Regulation program.
Following the release of the draft guideline we are offering stakeholders a one-hour information session presented by AER Chairman, Andrew Reeves. The information session will be a teleconference from 9.30 am to 10.30 am (EDST) on 30 August 2013 and will outline the details of our draft rate of return guideline.
The session is aimed at a wide stakeholder audience, from consumers and their representatives, to network businesses, stock broking firms, and investor groups. Given the anticipated number of participants, we will not be seeking to answer questions over the phone. Rather, during the presentation we encourage stakeholders to email us questions during the session at betterregulation
aer [dot] gov [dot] au (betterregulation[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au). We are also going to experiment with use of Twitter as a forum for stakeholders to ask questions during the session. We will then leave some time at the end of the presentation for Mr Reeves to answer some of your questions. Answers to questions that we do not have time to address during the session will be posted on our website.
One of the improvements we have sought to make through the Better Regulation program is to be innovative in the way in which we engage with our stakeholders. This information session is part of the evolution of our engagement strategy.
