Wallumbilla in Queensland is a major gas supply hub. As a pipeline interconnection point for the Surat-Bowen Basin, it links gas markets in Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. It services industrial gas customers, LNG export facilities and gas powered generators, making it a natural point of trade and an ideal location for a gas trading exchange.
This figure is a summary of monthly trading volume and prices in the gas supply hub.
NOTES:
Following the transition to the new single product at Wallumbilla from 28 March 2017, there were two trades for 40 TJ of gas at South East Queensland (SEQ) on 30 March which are included in the figure. Trades at SEQ were identified as RBP trades before the commencement of the single product. The volume weighted price of the SEQ trades was $8.30/GJ, and these trades are not included in the RBP VWA price for March 2017. SWQP and RBP (and QGP, untraded) products have been grouped under a single product (WAL) from 28 March 2017.
