From: Jack Gilding, TREA Sent: Friday, 21 April 2017 3:29 PM To: TasNetworks DX Cc: revenue.reset@tasnetworks.com.au Subject: TREA response to Preliminary Framework and Approach, TasNetworks 2019- 2024 TREA welcomes the decision to apply the new demand management incentive scheme (DMIS) and demand management allowance mechanism (DMIA) to TasNetworks in the 2019?24 regulatory control period. The rapid advances in demand management systems and distributed storage provide exciting new opportunities to manage peak demand and thereby avoid or defer network investment with consequent savings for all consumers. As the AER will be aware, TasNetworks is already doing ground breaking work in this area through the Bruny Island battery trial. We look forward to working with TasNetworks on other demand management projects in the future and believe that demand management incentives, along with opt-in cost reflective tariffs and network support payments can assist with the implementation of these new technologies. We do not have any comments on other aspects of the Preliminary Framework and Approach at this point. ================================== Jack Gilding, Executive Officer Tasmanian Renewable Energy Alliance Inc.
